BUILDING OF THE REGIONAL COMMITTEE OF THE SOVIET UNION COMMUNIST PARTY (FOR CONSTRUCTION OF “CRYSTAL ARENA” ICE PALACE)
Demolition of a non-completed administrative building of the Regional Committee of the Soviet Union Communist Party within construction of the Crystal Arena ice palace seating 3,500 viewers for the 29th World Winter Universiade 2019 in Krasnoyarsk.
The demolition was performed by a complicated technology: a part of the demolished facility was located in the immediate vicinity of new multi-level parking (at a distance of 4 meters). The parking was in the hazardous area where the other structure could have collapsed in case of using the mechanical demolition method.
Engineers from Reforma Group made a decision to apply:
- An element-by-element method of dismantling a part of the building;
- Diamond wire systems in hazardous areas near the parking.
The selected work performance strategy made it possible to carefully dismantle a part of the non-completed building into fragments. A special protective fiberglass mesh protected the parking lot’s façade from small brickwork debris.
Materials: reinforced concrete, brick.
