Demolishing 42 lighting poles and 1,831 linear meters of metal structures from the handrails along the overbridge while preserving the bas-relief elements of the bridge’s décor. Demolishing a bridge with a complicated prefab reinforced concrete structure: the central part above the railways and two flyovers connected to the central part with spans. The spans were continuous beam-type, made of steel and reinforced concrete and custom-designed.
Work was performed 24/7. A part of the bridge was above the tracks operated by Russian Railways (a branch belonging to South Ural Railways) and Kurganmashzavod. A permit was obtained from Russian Railways to tear down and remove the bridge span over the two railway tracks within 24 hours. The overbridge above the plant’s tracks had to be removed within five days.
